S & A Dog Sitting
Important Health Notice – Kennel Cough
We’re seeing an increase in cases of Kennel Cough (also known as Canine Cough) throughout Adelaide, including reports from other dog daycares in the southern suburbs.
Please note that we currently have no cases here at S & A Dog Sitting, but we want to keep all owners informed and vigilant.
About Kennel Cough
Kennel Cough is a highly contagious respiratory infection that spreads easily between dogs through droplets from coughing, sneezing, or shared surfaces (toys, bowls, bedding, etc.).
Just like flu vaccines in humans, the Kennel Cough vaccine helps reduce the risk and severity of infection — but it does not eliminate it completely.
👉 This is a good reminder to ensure your dog’s vaccinations are up to date.
⚠️ Symptoms to Watch For
If your dog shows any of the following signs, please do not bring them to daycare or boarding:
-
Persistent dry, hacking, or “honking” cough
-
Sneezing or nasal discharge
-
Tiredness or lack of energy
-
Loss of appetite
-
Mild fever
If you notice these symptoms, contact your vet for advice and keep your dog at home until they are fully recovered.
What We’re Doing
At S & A Dog Sitting, we take health and hygiene seriously.
To help keep every dog safe, we:
-
Maintain strict cleaning and disinfecting routines for all play and rest areas.
-
Closely monitor all dogs for any signs of illness during their stay.
🐶 What We Ask of Owners
Your help makes a huge difference in keeping all dogs safe and happy:
-
Please monitor your dog closely for any symptoms
-
If your dog is coughing, sneezing, or unwell, do not bring them to us until fully recovered.
-
Contact your vet for guidance if you suspect Kennel Cough.
-
Ensure vaccinations are current — even though they can’t prevent every case, they help reduce spread and severity.
💛Why This Matters
Bringing an unwell dog, even with mild symptoms, can quickly spread illness to others.
Your understanding and cooperation help us protect all dogs in our care and keep S & A Dog Sitting a healthy and happy environment.
Thank you for being proactive and helping keep our community safe 🐾
